Dr. Federico Latimer earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University, and he then completed the first of two Master’s degrees at Penn State University. He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 1984, and a second Master’s Degree in 1984. He then entered private practice in Puerto Rico until 1987. The University of Tennessee recruited him to their faculty and then offered him a residency program in Comparative Surgery that was completed in 1996. He has worked on the surgical faculties at the University of Tennessee, North Carolina State University, Oregon State University, Louisiana State University, and Ohio State University.
Dr. Federico Latimer has published numerous scientific articles including two evaluating the pharmacokinetics of antifungal agents in horses. In addition, he authored or co-authored numerous book chapters. Dr. Latimer continues to collaborate with orthopedic colleagues in order to provide the most up-to-date and modern surgical procedures for his patients. He even recently performed an innovative surgical procedure on a California sea lion. The superstar patient is doing great and is very comfortable on his front flipper!
